Welcome to the Islamic Center
Islam began in the 7th century CE in Mecca, Arabia, where Prophet Muhammad ﷺ received the first revelation from Allah through the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel). These divine messages were later compiled into the Qur’an, which teaches the oneness of God (Tawheed), justice, mercy, and good moral conduct. Before Islam, Arabian society was tribal and mostly polytheistic, though some Jews and Christians lived there. When Muhammad ﷺ started preaching the message of Islam, the leaders of Mecca strongly opposed him and persecuted the early Muslims. In 622 CE, the Muslims migrated from Mecca to Medina (the Hijrah), where Muhammad ﷺ not only spread the message of Islam but also established a just and united community based on mutual respect and peace.
